The locomotive features stamped metal and die cast construction, motor, operating headlamp, fixed knuckle couplers, metal side rods, metal wheels and axles. The rolling stock features stamped metal construction, fixed trucks, fixed knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles.

This set has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The wheels show average run-time. There are light nicks and scratches on the surface of the shells and chassis. This set is missing 1 curved track piece, so it only includes 11 curved track pieces. The passenger car has various bent trim pieces.
