Lionel 6-8406 O New York Central Die-Cast Hudson 4-6-4 Steam Loco & Tender #783 EX/Box

This is a Lionel 6-8406 O New York Central Die-Cast Hudson 4-6-4 Steam Locomotive and Tender #783 from 1984. This was the first modern era reissue of the famous Scale Hudson and is very similar to the 1964 version of the Postwar Era 773. It features a die-cast boiler, an open frame motor, Magnetraction, an operating smoke unit with smoke puffing from steam chest, and an operating headlight, and an electronic whistle and Sound of Steam. The tender has 6-wheel trucks and also features a die-cast shell and is the same style as the postwar 2426.

Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The connecting pins between the locomotive and tender are broken, so this item is being sold as-is. There are minor nicks, scratches, and scuff marks present throughout the locomotive and tender. The wheels show average run-time. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down.
