Lionel 456 Vintage O Operating Coal Ramp w/Controller & Bin/Box

This is a Lionel 456 Vintage O Operating Coal Ramp w/Controller & Bin from 1950-55. The coal ramp allows you to back a 3456 or other operating hopper car up the ramp, couple it with the coupler at the top of the ramp and then uncouple the car from the rest of the train. Then there is a third button on the controller to unload the coal through the hatches on the bottom of the 3456 car, just like the real ones! The 456 can also be used in conjunction with the 397 Coal Loader. For this it requires the maroon plastic transfer bin and two mounting posts. With this the coal that is unloaded from a 3456 type hopper on the 456 ramp is transferred directly into the 397. The ramp measures 35 inches long x 7 inches tall x 3 1/2 inches wide.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-5: Good based on visual appearance. This has not been tested and is Sold As Is. The controller has rust and corrosion throughout. The controller cord is cracked and brittle and is falling part. The wire is exposed. There are nicks and scratches on the surface of this item. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item.
