Lionel 218 Vintage O Santa Fe Alco AA Diesel Locomotive Set

Here is a Lionel 218 Vintage O Santa Fe Alco AA Diesel Locomotive Set from 1959-63. The 218 Santa Fe Alco was a common diesel in the Lionel Alco series in the early 1960s. Their five-year production run makes it an easy item to acquire. The 218s were usually produced as an AA unit -- except in 1961 when an AB combination was available in limited quantities. The 218 Santa Fe included one powered unit and one non-powered unit. Standard features on each unit include: silver and red painted body with black lettering plus front and rear non-operating couplers. The powered unit was also equipped with two-axle Magnetraction, three-position E-unit plus a functional horn and headlight. The length of the 218 Alco units when coupled together is approximately 23" long (coupler to coupler).

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-5: Good based on visual appearance. The horn was left untested. The non-powered locomotive has a broken pilot. Both units show flaking on the nose decals. Both units show thick spots of dirt stains on the shell. Both locomotives show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. Both locomotives show rust throughout various sections of the chassis and trucks. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
