Lionel 1668 Vintage O 2-6-2 LL Gunmetal Torpedo Steam Locomotive VG
This is a Lionel 1668 Vintage O 2-6-2 LL Gunmetal Torpedo Steam Locomotive from 1937-41. The locomotive features metal construction, a motor, a reverse unit, an operating headlight, a smoke stack, metal side rods, metal wheels and exquisite detail.
Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. There are several scratches/nicks across the painted metal body resulting in paint loss in some areas. There are signs of rust along the side rods, wheels, axles, tender latch & other metal components. One of the red light markers is missing on the front. This locomotive runs forward/reverse on AC only with operational lighting & directional switch. The original box is not included. The instruction manual is not included.
