Here is an Athearn G9001 HO Scale H&VC USRA 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Locomotive & Tender #827 - Custom. This locomotive features intricately realistic detail, metal wheels, a powerful motor, and operating couplers. It is a great running locomotive, especially at low speeds.
Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the "Mikado" found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2.
This item has been graded per TCA standards (Restored/Repainted) R-3: Good based on visual appearance. The locomotive struggles to pull due to bad worm gears and is being sold As-Is. The locomotive and tender have been custom painted by the previous owner. The locomotive and tender have broken and missing trim pieces. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
